An Independent Optical Lab Built Around a Simple Idea
UseMyFrame.com was founded in 2015 by Neil F. Uher II, ABO-AC, an Advanced Certified Optician, with a simple idea: you shouldn't have to replace a perfectly good pair of eyeglass frames just because you need new prescription lenses.
Before starting UseMyFrame.com, Neil worked in an independent optical practice and repeatedly heard the same complaint from customers: the place where they had purchased their glasses wouldn't replace just the lenses and instead wanted to sell them an entirely new pair.
He thought there had to be a better option.
That idea became UseMyFrame.com, an independent optical laboratory specializing in making new prescription lenses for frames customers already own.
Today, we serve customers throughout the United States, along with optometrists, optical stores, and other optical professionals through our wholesale laboratory services.
Your Glasses Aren't Sent to Some Unknown Lab
One of the things that makes UseMyFrame.com different is that we're not simply a website taking orders and forwarding them somewhere else.
Our optical production is performed in-house at our laboratory in Rock Falls, Illinois.
Neil remains directly involved in the business and oversees optical production and quality. Our laboratory has the equipment and experience to surface, finish, edge, mount, inspect, and troubleshoot prescription lenses in-house.
That gives us considerably more control over unusual jobs—and allows customers to communicate with people who actually understand how their glasses are being made.

We routinely work with frames and prescriptions that require more hands-on attention than a highly automated, mass-production optical lab may be designed to provide.
Optical Expertise Still Matters
Technology has changed tremendously since we started UseMyFrame.com, but prescription eyewear is still a precision optical product.
Small differences in measurements, lens design, centration, prism, frame fit, mounting and finishing can have a significant effect on how a pair of glasses performs.
Neil holds the Advanced Certification (ABO-AC) from the American Board of Opticianry, and that optical background has shaped how UseMyFrame.com operates from the beginning.
We combine modern optical manufacturing technology with something that can be difficult to automate: experienced optician oversight and individual attention to unusual jobs.
Online Convenience With a Real Optical Lab Behind It
Our goal has always been to combine two things that don't necessarily have to be opposites:
the convenience and pricing of ordering online with the expertise and personal service of an independent optical shop.
Customers can mail their existing frames to us from anywhere in the United States, while customers near Rock Falls and Sterling, Illinois can visit us locally.
Whether we're replacing the lenses in a favorite frame, making prescription lenses for smart glasses, producing a difficult prism prescription, or helping another optical practice with a specialty laboratory job, the philosophy is the same:
Do excellent optical work, treat people fairly, and don't tell someone they need a whole new pair of glasses when all they really need is new lenses.
