The Truth About "Auto-Adjusting" Glasses Like Mag Vision: Do They Really Work?
Hi everyone — Neil here from UseMyFrame.com. I wanted to take a moment to talk about something I’ve been seeing pop up a lot lately — especially on Facebook. Today I got an ad in my feed for a pair of glasses called Mag Vision, which claim to “automatically adjust to your eyes” and replace your entire prescription with just one pair.
As someone who works in optics every single day, I knew I had to say something — not to knock anyone’s product, but because I care about helping people actually see better.
So, what are these “auto-adjusting” glasses?
Mag Vision and similar brands are advertising glasses that supposedly work for both distance and reading, adjust to any prescription, don’t require an eye exam or prescription, and use something like “liquid lenses” or “smart glass” technology.
I’ve worked with real optical technology — including progressive lenses, prescription readers, and even digital free-form lenses — and I can tell you this: there’s no such thing as a truly universal prescription lens. Your prescription is unique to you, and vision correction just isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Here’s the reality behind those ads: What they usually are is low-quality plastic frames with adjustable lenses — sometimes you dial them left or right to change power. They’re basically magnifiers or novelty readers, not true prescription glasses. What they don’t do is correct astigmatism, match your real prescription, or provide true visual clarity across the whole lens. And often, these glasses can cause eye strain or headaches — especially if you have a more complex prescription.
Why I care: At UseMyFrame.com, we custom-make lenses based on your exact prescription, pupillary distance (PD), and frame shape. That means your glasses are made for you, not just “close enough.”
I’m not writing this to be negative — I get the appeal! I love when technology pushes boundaries. But I also want people to make informed decisions. If something sounds too good to be true... you know how that goes.
Want real, personalized vision correction? Whether you need prescription scuba lenses, readers, sunglasses, or just a better pair of everyday glasses, we’d be happy to help. We’ll even walk you through the whole process — no gimmicks, just quality you can see.
Thanks for reading — and as always, if you’ve got questions, you can reach me directly at neil@usemyframe.com or comment below. I really do read every message. :)

Yep, I got took too! But on the pair that I received there was no dial on the side of the lens, so I guess these miraculous glasses were supposed to mysteriously auto-adjust to my vision needs. Nope. Nada. Negative.
I sent them an immediate email requesting information to processing my refund and also, I placed the transaction in dispute with my credit card company. The next day I received an email that my refund had been processed. Hmmm. That was a relief and satisfying that they were standing behind their refund promise. But the day after that, I received another email from a variation for their support email address that they needed some information in order to “assist” me – when the refund was supposed to already in process. I’m hoping my credit card company comes through for me in stopping these crooks!
Tomorrow Herring: these “new type” glasses do not work if you have had cataract surgery where the lens was removed. Your glass strength is based on the technology reading your lens daily; hence, adjustments daily.
I got took! Ordered 3 pair & they sneakily added 3 more to my order. I noticed it immediately after clicking the final order button. Immediately tried to change or cancel the order & got an immediate reply that they couldn’t do that because it had already been processed. Should have called the credit card company immediately and disputed the charge, but I foolishly waited for them to arrive & return for refund. ALL of them, because they are nothing but children’s glasses and do absolutely nothing for my vision. Do not help at all doing computer work and certainly not for driving as the ad claimed. Still waiting on a response. Each time they communicate with me it’s a full day longer between emails. The last one was requesting my name, email, order #, and picture of the order and packaging. All of which they already had, except for pictures of the order & packaging. Can only assume that’s for proof that I received them. I’d already said I had. Bunch of garbage!!! Do NOT waste your $ on this scam!
I have business in my right eye which started after taking the drug Wellbutrin. I quit the drug after two weeks and the business remained. Been checked by every professional possible in my area. Nobody knows why. Had cataract surgery. No help. Left eye is perfect. Tried care drops. No help. Any suggestions
You got your money on the 4th here it is the 12th and you advertise shipping in 3 days. Still no product.
