What the "P" means
The P in the model number means the side shields are permanently attached. They're built into the frame rather than clipped on, so they can't be removed, lost, or left in a drawer — the frame stays ANSI Z87.1 compliant every time it's worn. The matching 5001R uses mounted side shields that can be taken off.
